Filter (Carquest part number – 97036, also NAPA 2036 works) purchased from Carquest, a parts store near my home. Changing the first is now much easier!. The adapter was manufactered by USM. I purchased it back in the early ’80s. I have not discovered a current source for this part. I did find Ray Crowdery who designed the part. He said that when he quit the jeep parts business he authorized Surplus City to make them. As far as he knows they haven’t. The drawing gives you the dimensions so that you can have one made. milfiladp2milfiladp1         Above (click for a larger view). Filter Adapter for the Willys MB and Ford GPW oil filter. This design was worked out by a good friend of mine “Brother” W.H. Callahan. This is not a permanent change to your filter. Just remove your filter mesh and insert the disk then insert your dry cartridge filter – Carquest PN 97036 or NAPA 2036 both work. The adapter is made of an expensive plastic that is then machined to fit. Brother has paid attention to details by machining in the groove on top the adapter to ensure a close fit. Because of the cost of plastic Brother has decided not to make anymore adapters. civfiladp1 civfiladp2         Above (click for a larger view). Filter Adapter for the CJ oil bath air filter. This design was also worked out by “Brother” Callahan. This is not a permanent change to your filter. Just remove your filter mesh and insert the disk then insert your dry cartridge filter – Carquest PN 97036 or NAPA 2036 both work on this adapter as well. The adapter is made of an expensive plastic that is then machined to fit.
