Pre-standardized Jeeps
Checker Cab “Bantam”
Many people do not know that Checker Cab played a brief role in the development story of the jeep. I’m still researching the details but I believe that at least three Checker “jeeps” were assembled in 1941. One of which was a four wheel steer. This picture proves that the Checker was at least tested at Holabird by the Army.
The Checker Cab vehicle exhibits all the trademark designs of the Bantam BRC.
A rear shot of the vehicle.
Another side view, this time of the passenger side.
