| Storing the Air Gage, Part 1 | |
|
Lee J. Craft, 1st. Lt., 140th Inf. Maintenance Officer, was so taken with our atory on Inside the Tire Gage (Feb.) that he designed a scabbard to protect it (see fig.). He painted the scabbard with canvas coating and isntalled it on the back left support of the driver's seat on the 1/4-ton jeep by removing the 3 screws holding the cushions in place and inserting the edge underneath. Similar mountings can be found for the gage in any other vehicle. Article appeared on Vol 4, No.1 page 20 (April 1943) | ![]() |

| Above are two pictures of the air gage scabbard designed by Lt. Craft during WW2. The scabbard was made by Dave Pizzoferrato of WeeBee Webbing, www.odcloth.com. He used the drawing with CADD equipment and a tiny bit of help from me and was able to quickly knock one off. Look for these at any MV show he attends. | |
